The name A Hi Tirheni (AHT) is taken from the local Shangaan language and means “Let’s Work”. A Hi Tirheni currently consists of six members and plans to grow to a group of 15. The owners/members are from the communities of Huntington, Lilydale and Justicia. These communities border the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve and are located close to the Newington Gate entrance to the Sabi Sand. Job opportunities in these areas are few and far between. Much inspiration can be taken from their name, “Let’s Work”. This speaks of creating something new out of nothing and in the process creating an opportunity for the members to earn a livelihood.
AHT is a start-up group who has the long-term vision of having their own craft market; however, they find themselves without a permanent location and in need of support. Currently they are waiting for funding for their own building. In the interim they operate as a part-time business. They are storing their stock at an office in Lillydale and generate sales during community tours. During community tours, when guests from surrounding lodges visit the community, A Hi Tirheni displays and sells its products at a local community hall. Since the first of March 2023 they have been generating sales, and in the process, they are laying a strong foundation for their long-term futures. Being operational as a part-time business means they have certain unmet needs, and they are in need of support and training. Currently they receive the following training and support:
- Leadership and Mentoring
- Operational Support
- Sales Analysis and Income Statement Training
