The Luphisi Village has a population of about 5 000 people and is located approximately 40km east of Nelspruit. Luphisi has a high unemployed population. The village of Luphisi borders the Mthetomusha Game Reserve – which is situated on the south western border of the Kruger National Park.
OPOF, in partnership with the Shosholoza Foundation, has been actively involved with rural business development initiatives in the Luphisi community for the past three years. A group of businesses, including a bakery, car wash, tour company, catering business, tuck shop, tailor shop, and arts and crafts hub, have received training in the following areas:
- Business Owner Development, and Mentorship
- Business Development
- Business Management
- Financial Literacy Training
- Sales Analysis and Income Statement Training
These training programs have supported business growth and sustainability, which in turn create much-needed jobs in the Luphisi community.
